With the August 4th election just days away, join us Thursday, July 30th at 7:00 PM for a timely and important virtual presentation from MOTA’s Co-Directors of Practice, Lindsay Bright, OTD, OTR/L and Maria Lindbergh, MOT, OTR/L, ECHM (AKA “Lindsaria”)!
This presentation provides a nonpartisan overview of the Missouri August 4th ballot and its potential implications for occupational therapy practice. Participants will examine how proposed constitutional amendments may affect healthcare funding, Medicaid services, school-based OT, clinic operations, and advocacy efforts — and will learn practical ways to engage in advocacy and support policies that impact occupational therapy practitioners and the clients they serve.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the constitutional amendments on the August 4th Missouri ballot and explain which amendments may impact occupational therapy practice.
- Describe the citizen initiative petition process in Missouri and explain how Amendment 4 could affect occupational therapy advocacy efforts.
- Analyze the potential effects of Amendment 5 (Income Tax Removal) on occupational therapy service delivery, clinic operations, and healthcare reimbursement.
- Explain how changes in state revenue and education funding could impact school-based occupational therapy services, including staffing, caseloads, and service delivery.
- Discuss the potential impact of Amendment 5 on Medicaid-funded occupational therapy services and client access to care.
- Identify advocacy actions occupational therapy practitioners can take to educate others and participate in the legislative process.
